Privacy policy
Last updated: 2 October 2026
At RecipeClan we take your data seriously. This policy explains what data we process, why, and what rights you have, under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Spanish data protection law (LOPDGDD).
Data controller
The data controller is the owner of RecipeClan. You can get in touch by writing to the support address shown in the app.
What data we process
- Account data: email, name, @username, photo, bio and preferred language.
- Content you publish: recipes, photos, videos, comments, messages and voice notes.
- Your shopping lists and what you add to them.
- Relationships: who you follow, who follows you, groups and blocks.
- Technical data: push notification tokens and app version.
What we use it for
The legal basis is the performance of the contract (the terms of use) and, for push notifications, your consent.
- Providing the service: storing your recipes, showing them to whoever you choose and enabling chat.
- Sending you in-app alerts and push notifications, which you can turn off in Settings.
- Keeping the service safe and moderating reported content.
Who can see your content
Each recipe has its own visibility: private, followers only or public. Public recipes from public profiles may appear in search engines such as Google. What you share in a group is seen by its members. Messages are only seen by chat participants. If your profile is private, you approve each follower and your recipes are not indexed.
Where it is stored
Data is hosted on Supabase within the European Union. Push notifications are sent through Firebase Cloud Messaging. To make the app faster and work offline, some information is cached on your device.
How long
For as long as you have an account. When you delete it we erase your personal data; what you shared in family groups is kept as “Deleted user”.
Your rights
- Access and portability: Settings → Account → “Download my data”.
- Rectification: edit your profile, recipes, comments and messages whenever you like.
- Erasure: Settings → Account → “Delete account”.
- You can complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (aepd.es).
